Let the adventures continue - a RooFer's story

Cretese coliving Milan, Italy. 2023

Dear reader,

So the idea of writing my story seems bizarre. Yet, I've discovered that even an honest story about my experience with RooFinders can inspire readers and future RooFers.

I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of 19 I decided to leave University and start travelling around the world by myself, totally open for new adventures.

We all start travelling with a reason in our mind. Some to find themselves, others to study or because they got new job opportunities. In my case, to live and go in search of new opportunities and fascinating experiences (those that you want to remember for life).

The idea of leaving my country seemed crazy, almost impossible to do. How to live in a completely different place that has nothing to do with what you’ve lived before, without knowing the language, without having family nearby and above all, leaving everything behind. Just taking with me only two suitcases and a few passport pages to stamp.

In September 2021 I arrived at the coliving building in Via Demetrio Cretese. I didn't know much about what I was going to find. I had only seen the pictures on the Internet and talked to RooFinders. From the first moment I knew this was where I had to go. Something about the place attracted me, the positive energy and the feeling of cosiness. It was when I arrived in Cretese that I said "this is it". And, just like that...that's when I met Matteo and Belen. Two entrepreneurs with a huge heart, willing to give their best so that each of their RooFers have the best experience in Italy. And with me, they succeeded at such a level that I later became part of their working group for a while. But that's for later…

The coliving was magical. It was there where I opened up to new cultures, I met incredible people, where I had great conversations, and where I laughed out loud from the very first moment. Students and young professionals from Colombia, Germany, Argentina, France, India, Kazakhstan...endless nationalities...living their experience abroad. Incredible, isn't it? Especially because they started as strangers and after a while they became family. Who would have thought that at 11 pm on a Thursday I would be in the apartment next door, learning to cook ‘arepas’ with Colombians friends just because, or travelling to Egypt with a former Roofer who invited me to his country for a little while. Life is about moments right? And the moments with RooFinders will stay with me for a lifetime.

My time in coliving was short because I continued to travel after a few months. It wasn't easy to leave everything, especially because I had built amazing relationships. So much so that a few months later I returned to Italy, but this time, as part of the RooFinders team. It was one of the best work experiences I've ever had. I got to see the behind the scenes of everything they do to guarantee an unforgettable experience to every RooFer in Italy. How they organise themselves and do their best to keep growing. What an honour to work in an Italian Start Up with a group of amazing team members next to me.

Today it's time to say goodbye (simply because I chose a different path to follow) with a heart full of love thanks to this amazing group of people. Once a RooFer, always a RooFer!

And for you, dear adventurer...I wish you a life full of life and amazing adventures.

Best,

Angie.
